Public transportation: Though mass transit proves to be a godsend for some, it may act as a barrier between you and a brief, much needed, cardio session. Rather than taking the subway, bus or cab, leave a few minutes earlier to avoid the stress of rushing to your destination. Move at a fairly brisk pace to get a quick workout. Walk briskly for 10, 20, or even 30 minutes on your way to work and burn off some, if not all, of your sweet morning coffee!

Use the stairs: If you have a desk job, taking the stairs will allow you to speed up your metabolism before sitting for the majority of the day. Walking up the first few floors will increase your stamina, strengthen leg muscles and aid in a heart-healthy lifestyle. Make this a part of your daily movement.

Taking small steps throughout the day will allow you to maintain a healthy lifestyle without the hefty price of a gym membership. Start with as few as 10 minutes a day and reap the benefits of increased stamina allowing you to push the extra mile, literally!
